Q: What Laws cover your Industry?
A: We are covered by the Secondhand Dealers and Pawnbrokers Act 2004.

Q - What are the requirements for identification?
A - The Act requires us to sight Photo ID, usually a Drivers Licence is easiest, but a Passport, 18 plus card, or other official Photo ID is acceptable.

Q - How can I tell what metal something is?
A - The identification of different metals can be quite a tricky business. Our first tool is the simple magnet, if a magnet sticks to a metal, then it is PROBABLY steel. The colour of the metal is the 2nd thing we look at, and a big consideration is the item itself - eg most taps are made of Brass.

Q: How do I know how much my scrap is worth?
A: There are many grades of scrap metal with different values, depending on the metal recovery and market conditions. Scrap metal is generally bought by weight ($ per kg or $ per tonne) rather than as individual items. When you come to our yard, we’ll sort and explain the different grades and weigh them in front of you. We can give you an estimate of the value over the phone but please remember that it’s more accurate if we can see the material.

Q: Will you collect scrap from my house or business?
A: Yes we can. Please contact us for details.

Q: What do I need to bring with me when I deliver my scrap to you?
A: Under the Second hand Dealer's Act 2004 we cannot buy your scrap metal unless you show us ID (i.e. driver's license or passport) and we also require that you have footwear on, for safety reasons.

Q: What are your operating hours?
A: Monday - Friday, 8am til 5.00pm

Q: How are payments made?
A: We can pay cash or bank deposit

Q: Do you take fridges and other white ware?
A: Yes! We take Fridges, Washing Machines, Dishwashers, Dryers and these items can be dropped off into the recycle area. We do not pay for these items.

Q: Do you take gas bottles?
A: Yes we do, however we do not pay for them as they require processing.
